The offline exhibition of the 137th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) ended in Guangzhou, Guangdong on May 5. As a "barometer" and "weather vane" of my country's foreign trade, this Canton Fair has become a window to show the resilience of my country's foreign trade.


"This Canton Fair seems to have more guests than any other." At the Canton Fair Complex, Ding Yanggang, Central Director of the China Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia and Chairman of the International Business Committee, and Head of Malaysia Sanjiang Trading Co., Ltd., said that he had participated in the Canton Fair with his father since the fall of 1990. He has not missed a Canton Fair in more than 30 years, and he has gained different things every time he comes to the Canton Fair.

"An exhibition can gather more than 30,000 export companies and more than 200,000 global buyers. This is the charm of the Canton Fair." Ding Yanggang said that at the Canton Fair, Malaysian companies deeply felt that China has a complete industrial system, a strong supply chain, and super manufacturing capabilities. Ding Yanggang said that Malaysian and Chinese companies complement each other, and the cooperation between the two sides highlights the resilience of bilateral relations. He hopes that the companies of the two countries can seize opportunities, cooperate for mutual benefit, and jointly cope with the challenges brought by global uncertainty.

"The 137th Canton Fair attracted 288,000 overseas buyers to attend the fair. This data reflects multiple economic signals and deep changes in the global trade pattern." Wang Xianqing, former dean of the Institute of Commerce and Circulation of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, said that the circle of friends of the Canton Fair is getting bigger and bigger. Through market diversification and multilateral international economic and trade cooperation, while resisting external shocks, we work with trading partners to convey our firm determination to maintain the multilateral trading system and continue to consolidate and enhance our important position in the global supply chain.

"At this Canton Fair, we focus on receiving buyers from Europe, South America and countries that jointly build the 'Belt and Road'. By reasonably adjusting the layout, we will expand new markets." Liang Zhaoxian, chairman of Galanz Group, said in the Canton Fair brand exhibition area.

According to statistics, the 137th Canton Fair had an intended export turnover of 25.44 billion US dollars, an increase of 3% compared with the 135th Canton Fair held in the same period last spring. Among them, the transaction volume of countries jointly building the "Belt and Road" accounted for more than 60%, becoming an important engine to drive the growth of transactions.
"We have received many buyers from emerging markets, especially customers from South America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. European buyers have also expressed a strong willingness to cooperate. Our export market is expanding more and more." Xue Xinyu, general manager of Xingxing Refrigeration Foreign Trade, introduced
"This Canton Fair has achieved ideal transaction results, reflecting that my country's foreign trade enterprises have upgraded the Canton Fair from a traditional trade platform to a global industrial chain coordination hub through the triple drive of technological innovation, institutional openness and market diversification." Deng Jiangnian, a researcher at the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences, said that this is not only a counterattack against unilateralism, but also shows that China's foreign trade has shifted from "scale expansion" to a new stage of "value creation".

Somersaults, martial arts, tea and water... In the service robot area of this Canton Fair, 46 robot companies concentrated on displaying the latest development achievements of my country's service robots and the upstream and downstream industrial chains, becoming a prominent highlight of the exhibition.
"We received buyers from many countries at this Canton Fair. On the first day, a customer from Dubai immediately asked to visit the factory for further information after watching the product demonstration at the booth. Another customer from Singapore placed an order on the spot." said Chen Sihong, sales director of Guangdong Lingdu Intelligent.
At this Canton Fair, new products, new technologies, new designs, new materials, and new processes emerged in large numbers. Green, low-carbon, and intelligent products have attracted widespread attention and become a powerful fulcrum for leveraging orders and expanding the market. Enterprises displayed more than 4.55 million products on site, including 1.02 million new products, 880,000 green and low-carbon products, and 320,000 intelligent products.
"Our air conditioners can sense and adjust the temperature autonomously, which is energy-saving and can avoid the situation of being woken up by the cold in the middle of the night. This technology has won the recognition of many overseas buyers." Liao Shixing, general manager of Chigo Air Conditioner Overseas Marketing Company, said, "Innovation is always the driving force of corporate competition. Coupled with excellent product quality and excellent service supporting system, I believe that 'Made in China' can overcome the current difficulties." Zhang Qingfu, vice president of Haier Overseas Appliance Industry Co., Ltd., said that compared with European standards, Haier's latest washing machine saves 60% energy, large-capacity refrigerators save 20% energy, and heat pump dishwashers save 40% energy, which has won the favor of many overseas buyers.
