US steel exports down 5.5 percent in September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel exports in September 2019 decreased 5.5% from last month to total 557,822 mt. A year-to-year comparsion show a 5.1% increase. In terms of value, US steel exports in September totaled $798.3 million, compared to $855.3 million in August and $816.1 million in Sep,2018.
Steel exports to Canada in September decreased 1.9% from the preceding month to 264,172mt, and increased 8.7% from Sep,2018. Exports to Mexico decreased 10.5% month-on-monh to 240,728mt,which is up 5.9% from the same month a year ago.
Other top destinations for US steel exports in September include: China, with 5,698mt, Korea, with 3,501mt;India, with 3,423mt; Spain, with 3,134mt; and Dominican Republic, with 2,588mt.
Major steel products exported in September including HDG,at 91,878 mt, cut-length plates, at 67,268mt; hot rolled sheets, at 42,152mt; cold rolled sheets, at 37,331mt; and plates in coils, at 34,379mt.
