Classification of Galvanized Steel Pipe

Date:2024-05-21

Galvanized pipes can be classified into two main categories: hot-dipped galvanized pipes and electro-galvanized pipes.

Hot-dipped galvanized pipes are manufactured by immersing the steel pipes into a molten zinc bath. This process creates a thick, durable coating of zinc on the surface of the pipes. Hot-dipped galvanized pipes are known for their excellent corrosion resistance and long-lasting performance. They are commonly used in outdoor applications, such as water supply systems, gas pipelines, and construction projects.

Electro-galvanized pipes, on the other hand, are created through an electroplating process. A thin layer of zinc is deposited onto the surface of the steel pipes using an electric current. While electro-galvanized pipes offer good corrosion resistance, they are not as durable as hot-dip galvanized pipes. They are often used in indoor applications, such as plumbing systems, electrical conduits, and automotive components.
